EVENING SUNSET
Peter Grimmer
England won this Test match by nine wickets on a Saturday evening to secure a 2-1 series victory and the Wisden Trophy. Two notable events took place during the match:
- James Anderson took his best career figures of 7-42 and also his 500th Test wicket.
- Henry Blofeld, the much-loved broadcaster and journalist retired from BBC Test Match Special and took a lap of honour around the boundary before a hugely appreciative crowd.
Peter Grimmer's pen & ink watercolour, Evening Sunset, reflects this occasion.
Peter Grimmer
Peter Grimmer was born in Norwich in 1944 and spent most of his formative years at The Norwich School, where he began his interest in art and architecture.
He qualified in Architecture at the Canterbury School of Architecture in 1971 and embarked on a successful career, culminating in having his own practice in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
Peter uses his artistic talent to combine colour and form in his buildings and this theme is also illustrated in some of his recent paintings.
These feature historic buildings in Norfolk, including Felbrigg Hall and Blicking Hall, together with other popular locations in Cromer, Cley, Blakeney and Wells. He has also produced a series of images of Cambridge and London including the painting of Lord's Ground entitled "Evening Sunset".
Peter spends much of his painting time at his home in the small village of Steeple Morden in Cambridgeshire and also has a studio in North Norfolk.
